I’m home!
Happy New Year!!!
good time
I went to vegetarian restaurant which my travel guide book recommend with Michael who is studying Spanish and same room with me at hostel.
I was super bored to stay at hostel.
It's still heavy raining, too. I didn't want to go out, but she invited me to go out for lunch.
So, I wanted to go to the restaurant, that's why we went to there.
That's excellent for vegetarian.
I couldn't pick what I should have had, because there were many kinds of good meals.
Anyway, we had a good time there for lunch.
She and I became to love this vegetarian restaurant.
She's going to stay in Santiago for 7 months for studying, so she said she would come to this restaurant again.
We recommended it to a guy.
rain, again
It's heavy rain again.
I didn't want to go out today, because I was tired, walked so much last few days.
I stayed at hostel all day.
By the way, I'd love to go to Isla de Pascua (Rapa Nui) , Easter Island.
I went to a few travel agencies due to get some information.
It's quite expensive to get there, and travel around Island to see statue of Moai.
I was thinking to go there, or not.
I've decided to not go there, because I can't spend much money it now.
I regret not going there. Hopefully I go there next time.
Chilean traditional
I went to Los Dominicos where there were many handicraft shops on foot.
I walked so much today, too.
It was too easy to get there, I just walked straight on one of big main streets.
However, it's very very far from my hostel.
I thought to be able to get there by foot, but I walked there over an and half hours, just walking.
Today was Sunday, almost shops on the both side of streets closed.
It's such a boring walking.
But, I saw many Chilean handicraft at Los Dominicos. It's interesting.
I enjoyed to watch it, even though I didn't buy anything.
And, I went to Mercado Central to eat some seafood.
Chile is famous for seafood and wine.
I had a grilled salmon and shellfish soup in Island of Chiloe.
I thought Canadian salmon was better than Chilean, that's good though.
I'd like to have a "congrio" , "anago" in Japanese.
Chilean congrio is bigger than Japanese one.
Congrio is usually fried or grilled , served with side order.
I had a grilled congrio. It tasted like a white fish.
It's yummy, yummy.
If you come in Chile, you should have it !!!!!!!
walk, walk, walk .....
I walked around Santiago centre of the old city and saw many historic building yesterday.
And, I went to Cerro San Cristobal on foot today.
I needed some exercise. haha...
Cerro San Cristobal is hill which is such a exercise place, there were many people who were jogging or biking.
It's a fine day today. So, I thought I could see superb the Andes views.
Unfortunately, I saw only shadow of the summit.
The sky was a blur in the smog which is a problem in Santiago.
The smog covered over city of Santiago, so the sky looked dusty.
I was disappointed I've not seen the Andes clearly.
I got to the top of the hill from Providencia, new city, on foot.
But we can get there by funicular, cable car, or by teleferico, ropeway.
There was a statue of the Virgin.
That's very good exercise for me.
Santiago
I got to Santiago from Puerto Montt this morning.
When I went to hostel, I had to take a metro.
Unfortunately, It's rush hour, so I couldn't take a metro for a while because I had a huge backpack.
There were no space I could take it.
Finally, I got to hostel by metro which was between old city and new city, so it's very convenient.
I can go to both city by foot.
I had a good free meal which was spaghetti and wine tonight for dinner.
It's event of hostel has some events on few days a week.
That hostel is really great stay for a long days, included breakfast and some events and so on.
I will stay at this hostel, I mean in Santiago, for a week.
